2x4 design series/3 surveys the installations, books, and digital media spun from the collective mind of New York-based graphic design firm 2x4. An interdisciplinary corps of designers, writers, programmers, and animators, the group pushes graphic design from a mere vehicle of advertisement into the realm of fine art. SFMOMAs exhibition leads viewers through 2x4’s creative process for the campaigns of such high profile clients as Prada, Brooklyn Art Museum, Wired Magazine, and Swiss furniture company Vitra. Visitors patient enough to read the placards beneath each gorgeous swatch of wallpaper are rewarded with some of the smart insights into fashion, pharmacy, and technology (to name a few) that make 2x4 recognized as pioneers in their field.
